Another great week with my first grade mathematicians!  Implementing the Common Core is sometimes frustrating, mostly due to our primary resource (our textbook).  This week I just relied on my brain and the standards alone.  The purpose of the standards is to go deeper with knowledge and achieve MASTERY of the concepts.  I really had to take a step back this week and just do what I thought was right.  It has paid off.  It is amazing how children think.  You can learn so much by simply watching, providing guidance, and creating a safe environment for sharing strategies.
